What is Air Alert?
Air Alert provides email notifications to subscribers when air quality is poor in the Sacramento region.
This includes any wildfire smoke advisories in addition to Spare The Air alerts in the summer. For Sacramento County subscribers only, the daily Check Before You Burn status is sent out from November through February. Subscribers can also opt into daily air quality forecasts year-round.
You can stop or modify your subscription at any time.
Why Should You Sign Up?
Knowing when air quality will be poor allows you to protect the health of yourself and those around you. Air pollution can cause health impacts including breathing trouble, aggravated asthma and more. See our Health Effects page for information.
As an Air Alert subscriber, you can:
- Notify family and friends when air pollution is on the rise
- Know when to drive less to help Spare The Air during the summer
- Decide if children should participate in outdoor sporting activities
- Know when wood burning in your fireplace or wood stove is prohibited in Sacramento County (November - February)
